After a major flood in October 2016, the museum closed and started a campaign to renovate the building. It was reopened with a completely redesigned visitor approach and route. That means planning its permanent collections and exploring new themes. Louis XIV’s vast domain and intimate nature are depicted through the museography approach, as well as the disappearance of the castle due to its dismantling after the Revolution. Additionally, a mediation device was fabricated specifically to show visitors the Marly’s machine and help them understand the engineering techniques of the era. This device exhibits the remarkable advancements made in the Seine to provide water for the gardens of King Versailles.
